My Mary Poppins bag of wonders

Being pregnant I’ve honestly never had to need so much stuff in my bag before. My emotions are all over the place so I need to daily decide what crap I need just to go to the shop and more than often I have to bring out my big bag rather than my small over the shoulder bag, for comfort and for size. In my small bag I can only fit in a few things, but these days I need lots of things, just in case!

So, my bag currently includes:

  • Tissues
  • Chewing gum/breath mints
  • Lip balm
  • Inhaler
  • Extra cardigan
  • Hand cream
  • hair clips
  • hair bands
  • hand sanitizer
  • wet wipes

I’m yet to fully prepare myself for labour day when I’ll need my pregnancy bag ready but I am slowly but surely putting things into it. Even if you’re not planning a hospital birth, you might have to go unexpectedly, so you have to have a bag packed by the time you’re 36 weeks, just in case. With so many different websites available at the moment that can offer support, help and advice when packing your bag, it’s good to start getting in ready even if you have a while to go. Everything that I have planned to pack in my bag, will be things I don’t plan to actually want to keep so I’m not going overboard by spending too much. A great place to buy the essentials includes Primark and New Look.

Writing up your checklist is pretty easy to do with one of lists you can get online. Most websites suggest you need two bags, one for you and one for your baby, but it’s also a good idea that a small bag is packed for your partner as well. Your hospital bag should be whatever works best for you, a rucksack, a sports bag, a small suitcase. If you’re stuck on what to pack or need some extra help, the following websites have the best checklists available:
