When you become a parent, you expect certain brands to be better than others. The more expensive something is, the better, right? So when I first put Pampers on Emily, I will admit I was disappointed. I think Pampers is very overpriced for what it is. But this is what I think, everyone has their own opinion, so whilst you may disagree, you know what you like and what you want. For me, my aunt bought a few bags of Pampers when Emily was born, but I found them so flimsy and almost smelled full of urine all the time, so I had to change her often, which seemed a little ridiculous for the quality Pampers made such a deal out of, so any unopened packs I had, I sold to a friend and stuck to lesser-known brands.
I find the supermarket brands, like Tesco’s or Aldi nappies better, stronger and more wearable. It seems to be a well-established brand to some means so much more than quality. I don’t care what people think, but when it comes to quality, I’ll spend what is right and justifiable for it. And if that means I pay less for something that does a great job then that’s what I’ll do. I’ve noticed since Emily was small, that mums like to push in other mums faces, a brand and how much they’ve spent on something, almost like its a popularity contest. Whatever the item, cost or quality, it doesn’t matter really as long as it gets the job done, right?
For the price that Pampers sell for, I expected far more from the brand. But supermarket brands have been brilliant. I’ll admit I will spend a little more on certain things because I like the quality of something. You may call me a snob for it, but that’s just me. With Pampers, the cost in comparison to quality was disappointing. They were so thin, I thought it might just be a funny batch, but no. Although it won’t be long until nappies will be less of a problem when Emily starts doing potty-training but mums who are reading this, do your research. Speak to people. Everyone will say different and you yourself will experience what’s best for your child. Some will leak, some will not, others smell, some are better priced. Try for yourself and don’t follow the crowd.
