I’ve written about The Windmill a number of times, I’ve chosen it on numerous occasions as the venue for most events such as Sam’s 40th, Emily’s 1st, Emily’s Christening and a wake. It’s a lovely family friendly pub, with lovely staff, friendly locals, a good selection of food and drink, both hot & cold and a large garden with a bouncy castle in the summer and climbing frame for kids all closed off from the main road, so you can imagine it’s a huge hit with families all over.
Since the refurb last Feb, Steve (manager) and his daughter Megan (assistant manager) have really turned this pub around. Gone are the days of bored men sitting in the corner watching the football scores over a chilled pint, now the pub is animated, fun, busy and filled with laughter.
They show all sports to accommodate the sports fan, there’s live music every week, quiz nights, poker night and lots to keep the kids entertained in their garden. Their menu has changed 4-5x since their takeover and their food has got better and better and now their new menu is taking on the big bods in WWX and Ramsgate offering good menu deals to suit all the family.
A little over a month ago Sam and I popped by with Emily, she had a manic run around the garden and on the bouncy castle before the weather changed and we sat inside debating food and what to order. Being a Monday, one of their most popular deal-days where you can buy anything on the menu for a fiver (excluding double ups, extras and children’s meals) you can order some delish food. Sam went all out and had the mixed grill and I had the bacon & cheese burger.
The food is always great value, there’s always a good amount of people that are chatty and friendly in the garden or in the bar area around and the outside garden, climbing frame and bouncy castle in the summer is a winner for all ages too.
