Ok, let’s just recap I’m not actually killing someone called Eve, but the fabulous BBC drama “Killing Eve,” is amazing. Originally this post was to mention how bloody (literally) amazing it is whilst I binge watched it, but I binged watched it in a few days and I can safely say, if the rumours are true, the second season better bloody (sorry) hurry up.

So what’s it about I hear you say. Well it’s all about Eve, Sandra Oh’s character and she’s just quirky and I love her. So, she works as a spy but it’s not the job that she hoped for when she started. Anyway, she’s bored, desk-bound and looking for something a little more exciting in her role. She’s smart, quirky and knows a lot about serial killers, especially the female ones.
Villanelle is a very talented killer, who is highly skilled as an assassin but is seriously demented, a psychopath, who becomes obsessed with Eve. Played the the brilliant Jodie Comer, star of Thirteen, Doctor Foster and The White Princess, this is one of her best roles yet. I love her character too. She’s demented, clearly, somehow lovable but equally seriously fucked up.
Eve’s life as a spy is not adding up to what she had hoped it would be when she started. She is a bored, very smart, MI5 security officer who is very desk-bound. Villanelle is a very talented killer, mercurial in mood, who clings to the luxuries of her job. Eve and Villanelle go head to head in a race of cat and mouse and it’s just great. I’m in love with Eve and her glorious quirks and Villanelle for her psychotic funny personality.
It’s brilliant and still available on BBC iPlayer, so if you haven’t seen it, get watching and join in the conversation about this very smart, funny, intelligent thriller.
If you don’t fancy watching it for the two mesmerising leads, then watch it for the amazing supporting cast that definitely add the humour to it too. Supporting cast include Fiona Shaw, Kim Bodnia, Owen McDonnell, David Haig and Darren Boyd.
