It’s the only reality program I show an inch of interest towards. Every year celebs or past-their-sale-date celebs are thrown into the jungle together and put through gross and terrifying tests to see how far they’d go for their pay packet and to be made king or queen of the mighty Australian jungle.
It’s not for a few weeks yet, and newspapers have already been circulating with the news of who may or may not be joining the line up, but the one thing that’s more of the talk of the jungle is that Holly Willoughby joining Dec and I’m really not happy about it.
For me this year, I really don’t give a hoot who’ll be in the jungle. The people I usually favourite change after their true colours are shown anyway, but the thought of Holly Willoughby presenting it may just stop me watching it altogether.
Dec did an amazing job of presenting Britain’s Got Talent without Ant earlier this year, so why couldn’t that happen again with I’m a Celeb? Who thought to recruit Holly Willoughby to co-host? I’m sorry Holly but you’re on everything – Dancing On Ice, Celebrity Juice, This Morning, Play To The Whistle and Surprise Surprise. I mean she’s nice and everything but please just stop!
She’s everywhere. Everywhere! Her outfit choices are snapped every minute and posted and shared online by millions, her influence is so popular her current line at Marks & Spencers sell out within minutes of her posting about them.
There is no doubt that she is one of the most influential female leads on our screens. Millions adore her and want to copy her, they love her honest depiction of family life, her down-to-earth persona, lavish lifestyle, cool crowd friends and she often shares relatable posts on Facebook. It’s great that someone has this amount of influence on her followers, but I do find that there is too much favourite picking when it comes to anything and everything within the media these days. You only have to look at the likes of Scarlett Moffatt and her win at the jungle a few years ago where she was put on everything, given her own TV show, to know that new talent isn’t even favoured anymore. I’m a Celeb should be left to Dec, then if Ant returns, great, if not, give the spot to someone else who deserves their time to shine in the limelight.
