How crazy to think that in a few short weeks it will officially be December and then the countdown to Christmas begins. Seriously, where has this year gone? It’s flown by! It’s mad to think that in a few weeks Emily will turn 2 too.
As Christmas approaches, to get ready for the first Christmas that Emily can really enjoy, I’ve decided to be a little prepared and am having a big of a clear out to prepare myself and the house for it.
So I’m doing two good deeds.
- Donate clothes and toys to The British Heart Foundation
- Donate old bras to Smalls for All
This last year we have done a fair amount of charity giving to the British Heart Foundation, so adding a few more bags to the enormous amount we’ve done prior, is a little extra helpful deed that should help someone else out. I’ve lost a little weight so some clothes that are no longer of use, old clothes of Emily’s and toys that she no longer plays with can benefit someone else. It’s a nice feeling to help someone else and what better time than at Christmas. The bonus is if you need to declutter The British Heart Foundation can pick up your donations if you call to their local centre a week in advance, or if you have a car and space, you can order free donation bags online and then take your donations to your local British Heart Foundation Store. If the charity isn’t the one you’d like to donate to, there are plenty others you can donate to using the good app Gone For Good who’ll arrange a pickup from your house or office to your chosen charity for free.
To top off the good de clutter feeling, I’ve lost a little weight which is awesome, but what goes with weight loss, is bras that no longer fit. That’s where Smalls for All comes in. Smalls for All is a Scottish charity which collects and distributes underwear to help adults and children in Africa. They help those living in orphanages, slums, IDP camps and schools, as well as providing underwear to hospitals to help those suffering from medical conditions like obstetric fistula.
If donating bras is not your thing, you can donate money or even donate new pants or bras if preferred. Visit their website to find out more.
